Policy

Responsibility for tackling hepatitis B and C rests with individuals, communities and governments, but it is national governments which have the ability to implement the policy changes necessary to improve awareness, prevention, diagnosis, care, support and access to treatment of the diseases. We would like governments to work with patients groups, healthcare professionals and non-governmental organisations to formulate a comprehensive response to the public health challenge of viral hepatitis.

The World Hepatitis Alliance has ensured a campaign for policy change is a key element of World Hepatitis Day.  The ‘12 Asks’ campaign is based on a series of requests for policy commitments that recognise the impact of the diseases and reflect the need for action to tackle chronic viral hepatitis.
